This summer has been full of days that were particularly hot and humid and Abbe&Corey’s wedding was no exception. Thankfully no one let the overwhelming temperatures get in the way of having a good time! I think that this wedding will go down in history as one of the most beautifully designed weddings that I have had the pleasure of photographing. From the gorgeous, vibrant blooms by Foster’s Flower Shop to the bridal party attire, and right down to the well-dressed guests. In fact, I definitely spotted one of their friends wearing a three piece suit! As far as I’m concerned, a three piece suit is good for two things:
1) Looking too legit to quit/snazzy/spiffy
2) Sealing all the juices in/drowning in a pool of your own sweat.
I, for one, am dangerously close to needing an IV drip of Gatorade/water at all times while I’m working, so I have no idea how that guy did not pass out.
The day started off at Abbe’s childhood home where all the girls got ready. Abbe and Corey’s delightfully fluffy and energetic new Golden-doodle puppy, Piper, even made an appearance or two when she wasn’t bounding around the yard outside. After that, it was on to Heritage Hills where Abbe and Corey had their first look and I got to preview the magnificent reception decor. Soon after getting snap-happy photographing all the flowers, it was time for the ceremony. The heat was starting to take it’s toll when they both flubbed their vows and then, shortly after, Abbe discovered she couldn’t get the ring on Corey’s swollen finger! Don’t worry, he got it on eventually and then held up his hand at the end of the ceremony to prove it.
Post-ceremony portraits didn’t last long because Abbe and Corey were eager to spend some well-earned time with all of their friends and family, many from out-of-town. Once the reception kicked off, it was pretty obvious why they love their friends and family so much because it ended up being the most fun I’ve ever witnessed at a reception. There was a conga line and 10+ dance circles that developed at random! At one point, two dudes whipped off their belts, and suddenly people were doing the limbo in the middle of the dance floor. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any crazier, I turned around to find Corey’s friends hoisting Corey and Abbe up into the air on chairs and performing the Hora. I swear I thought it was only a matter of time until one of them went airborne.
Their guests truly kept it creative and lively! I even had two gentlemen who were quite insistent on taking the first ever photographer selfie. I was cracking up laughing while editing the reception photos, which is why I had a hard time showing restraint when it came to choosing which ones to post. A rowdy crowd to be certain and a night for the record books with the photos to prove it! Enjoy!
