Kim&Bill. A stunning, love-filled wedding at the Country Club of York in Pennsylvania.

Kim and Bill met on a blind date.  Well, for Kim it was a blind date, but Bill had the inside track after having seen a photo of Kim beforehand.  Bill’s boss’s wife and one of Kim’s coworkers conspired to set them up.  After a string of bad first dates, Kim optimistically agreed.  Bill’s boss’s wife asked him if he would be interested on going on a date.  Bill, feigning scandalousness and jokingly insinuating that she was asking him out herself, replied something to the effect of: “You’re married to my boss!  That might be a tad inappropriate.”  And when the laughter subsided, I’m sure Bill realized he would be certifiably insane to not agree to at least one date with the downright gorgeous Kimberly.

On a chilly day in February, it was Bill’s turn to conspire against Kim.  They were making their way from the parking lot across the foot bridge to The First Post restaurant when Bill had a moment of panic and realized there was someone coming up behind them.  Not wanting a stranger to foil his proposal, he stalled by pointing out all of the fish in the stream to Kim.  When Kim turned back towards Bill, he was on bended knee, with Kim’s grandmother’s ring in hand, asking her to marry him.  After she replied yes, a chorus of cheers erupted from several cars in the parking lot where members of both their families had been watching.  Bill’s sister captured the moment with her cell phone, and the resulting image resonated with Bill so much so that he later asked me to do a watercolor painting of the scene to present to Kim as a surprise on their wedding day.  Kim’s reaction to her mom telling her I was the one who did the painting was priceless, so definitely stay tuned for that.

Kim and Bill got married at the Country Club of York and the day could not have gone any smoother.  Oh, wait, did I forget to mention the torrential downpour that occurred 10 minutes after the wedding ceremony ended?  Plot twist!!!  I probably could have done without that actually.  It kind of messed up my grand plans for family portraits and bridal party photos outdoors.  Luckily, the rain subsided long enough to squeeze in about 5 minutes worth of portrait time with Kim and Bill before the reception kicked-off.  Aside from that small hiccup, the day truly was filled with so much love and beauty.  From the magnificent blooms by the girls at Rosemary & Rust to the elegantly designed invitations, programs, and other printed materials by Bree Adams.  And I cannot forget to mention the straight up sorcery-like skill and perfection of Shenoa Nicole’s makeup artistry that made an already stunning set of ladies look totally slammin’!

Kim is 1 of 5 children in her family and the last to get married, so to say there were a lot of emotional moments throughout the day would be an understatement.  Lace from Kim’s Mom’s wedding gown, along with an embroidered message, held the bridal bouquet together.  Her dad tried to go unnoticed when sneaking his first peek at Kim in her dress and I was in the right place to capture his 007-like movements.  The way he looked at her while walking her down the aisle will tug at your heartstrings too.  There was some unexpected comic relief during the ceremony reading by Bill’s sister when the severe weather siren for the golf course went off repeatedly.  These moments and so many others made for an unforgettable day!
