Erica&Andy. A 10 year wedding anniversary shoot set against the foliage of Fall and Heritage Hills resort in York, Pennsylvania.

When I heard about Erica’s plans to surprise her husband of 10 years with an anniversary celebration, I was thrilled to be asked to participate!  I mean, seriously, WHAT a thoughtful and romantic idea!  10 years and 3 kids(triplets no less!) later, they are still going strong.  Their day started off with a fake road trip for an “anniversary getaway” that actually ended only a few miles from home at Heritage Hills Resort where they got married.  After some relaxation time together, Erica slipped into her dress and Andy put on the tux Erica had rented for him.  They came to meet me for part two of their day–a photo shoot to re-capture the magic of their original wedding day!

It is basically a pipe dream to have a full hour of time for bride and groom portraits the day of a wedding.  You can ask for 30 minutes, but it has been my experience that you are pretty lucky to squeeze in closers to 15 minutes, so the thought of having a full two hours of time with Erica and Andy made me giddy with excitement.

Since their anniversary is close to the end of October, we had to capture some photos against the colorful Fall foliage.  I mentioned a few shots that I had in mind that would require hiking up a massive hill and Erica and Andy were totally on board.  It was only when we were halfway done hiking up this hill that Erica mentioned she was wearing 4 inch stilettos.  Say whattttt?!  I still don’t know how she did it.  I have a hard enough time walking like a normal human being in flat shoes.  Did I forget to mention that there were legit gale force wind gusts to contend with that day too?!  I actually think it worked in our favor though.  The wind kicked up Erica’s dress and whipped her veil around, but only seemed to make the two of them look even more badass.  They were total rockstars.

We ended the session at Heritage Hills Resort to recreate some of their original wedding photos on the golf course greens and some new photos on other parts of the grounds.  And just like that our two hours was up!  Erica and Andy were then whisked off to join their family and friends for the rest of the celebration.
