Andrea and Andrew have known each other since they were kids. Andrew and Andrea’s cousin happened to be best friends growing up. They would get together regularly to hang out and do super cool kid stuff, like roller blading on brick paver sidewalks and trying not to wipe-out. As they got older, life happened, and they saw a little less of each other because of going to different schools, but reconnected at Andrea’s cousin’s wedding 4 years ago. The rest, as they say, is history…
Since they have known each other so long, it seemed fitting to return to the neighborhood where they used to play as kids. I had no idea this gem of a neighborhood existed, tucked-away in downtown York, Pennsylvania. What a pleasant surprise! The same brick paver sidewalks, the same charming homes, the same trees, it looked virtually the same as it had 20 years earlier.
We ended the engagement session at nearby Cherry Lane just as the magical blue hour was goin’ down. Something about those bistro lights against the blue sky…perfection. I was also excited to have their encouragement to try some artistic in-camera shots that I have never attempted before. It’s a really great feeling to know your clients trust your vision and just go with it, no matter how weird it might seem in the moment. It was the first time I tried my hand at prism-ing and I think I could use some more practice haha! I also took a chance on doing some set-up shots for double exposures with the stars in the night sky. I had to wait until I had the opportunity to take a trip to the mountains (low light pollution=more visible stars) in order to do a second exposure of the night sky. It was the first time I tried a double exposure with the night sky and the results were pretty clutch if I do say so myself!
I am so excited for their wedding at the Stone Mill Inn this October!
